KogVin 2026 – Where to Stay for the Jeruzalem Slovenia Wine Festival
There is a small hilltop village in the northeast corner of Slovenia called Kog. Most travellers have never heard of it. Those who have, come back. Every May, the winemakers of Kog open their doors, pour their best bottles, and host one of the most genuine wine festivals in the country — KogVin. This year, Saturday, 16 May 2026, it happens again. And staying at our hotel in Jeruzalem Slovenia means you can be right in the heart of it — without watching the clock.
What is KogVin?
KogVin is not a trade fair. It is not a commercial wine expo. It is a gathering of local winemakers who believe their corner of the Styrian hills deserves to be discovered — and they are right.
The festival takes place at Kog 4, Košarkina hiša, in the rolling vineyards of the Jeruzalem–Ormož wine region, part of the Štajerska Slovenija wine-growing area. The wines here are predominantly white — Welschriesling, Riesling, Šipon (Furmint) — grown on sun-drenched slopes that catch the light from early morning until dusk.
The 2026 programme:
Workshop: The Winemaker’s Choice Each participating winemaker selects two wines from their cellar — the ones that best represent who they are, or that simply hold a special place for them. The workshop is led by Lenart Plavčak, who will guide participants through the stories and characteristics behind every pour. Ticket: €20 (includes afternoon festival entry). Pre-registration required at: festivalkogvin@gmail.com
Wine Festival: The main event: wine tastings from local producers, meeting the winemakers face to face, good homemade food, and the kind of relaxed atmosphere that only a small village festival can offer.
As the organisers put it themselves: “Come to Kog — because it’s great and beautiful.”

Why stay overnight — and not just drive in for the day?
Most visitors to KogVin make the same mistake: they drive in for the afternoon, rush through the tastings, and leave before the best part begins. Those who stay the night know better.
When the festival ends and the day-trippers are gone, Jeruzalem Slovenia becomes something else entirely. The vineyards in the evening light, a glass of local wine on the terrace with no need to worry about the road, a slow morning in a landscape most tourists will never see — that is what you are really paying for.
Staying at our hotel in Jeruzalem Slovenia means:
- Enjoying the wine festival and workshop without any driving restrictions
- An evening walk through the vineyards after the crowds have left
- Waking up to a Prlekija morning — quiet, green, unhurried
- Time the next day to explore local wine cellars along the Jeruzalem wine road
The Jeruzalem wine road — what to discover nearby
The Jeruzalem–Ormož wine region is one of Slovenia’s most scenic and least crowded. From our hotel, the village of Kog is just a few minutes away — the ideal starting point for a full day of wine tourism in Štajerska Slovenia.
Along the wine road you will find:
- Kog — the heart of the festival, surrounded by vineyards in every direction
- Jeruzalem viewpoint — a panoramic hilltop with views over Slovenia, Croatia and, on a clear day, Austria
- Ormož Castle — a medieval landmark in the nearby town of Ormož, 10 minutes by car
- Vineyard cycling trail — a well-maintained route suitable for all fitness levels
For anyone interested in wine tourism in Slovenia, this pocket of the country is a hidden gem worth a proper visit.
Prlekija food: the flavours that go with every glass
The region surrounding Jeruzalem Slovenia has its own culinary identity. Simple, honest, and deeply local: pumpkin seed oil, fresh cheese, homemade bread, and traditional Prlekija dishes that pair beautifully with the white wines grown here. At KogVin, local food producers join the winemakers, making the festival a full sensory experience — not just a tasting session.
Our hotel is also happy to recommend restaurants in Ormož and the surrounding area for guests who want to extend the culinary experience into the evening.
Book early — festival weekend fills fast
KogVin 2026 is on Saturday, 16 May 2026. Accommodation in the Jeruzalem Slovenia destination is limited, and festival weekends are always among the first to sell out.
If you are considering an overnight stay — do not wait. Secure your room today and arrive knowing that the only thing you need to think about is which wine to try first.
