KogVin 2026 – Accommodations near the wine festival in Jerusalem, Slovenia
Every year in May, something special happens in the wine-growing village of Kog. Winemakers open their doors, glasses clink, and amid the rolling vineyards of Prlekija, one of Slovenia’s most authentic wine festivals comes to life—KogVin. This year, it will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Kog 4, in the Košarka House in the heart of the Kog hills. And this time, it’s time to experience it at a leisurely pace. Stay overnight in the very heart of the Jeruzalem Slovenia destination.
What is KogVin?
KogVin is no ordinary wine fair. It is a gathering of winemakers who love what they do and visitors who know how to appreciate that love. The village of Kog, located right along the Jeruzalem–Ormož wine route, is considered one of the most beautiful and highest-quality grape-growing regions in the entire wine-growing region of Styrian Slovenia.
This year, the festival is taking place at Košarkina hiša at Kog 4 and features a rich program:
Workshop: The Winemaker’s Selection. Each participating winemaker will select two wines from their cellar that, in their opinion, best represent their winery or are particularly close to their heart. The workshop will be led by Lenart Plavčak, who will present the wines, their stories, and their unique characteristics. The workshop ticket costs €20 and also includes admission to the afternoon Wine Festival.
Wine Festival: The main part of the day is open to all wine lovers. From tastings of excellent wines to meeting winemakers, enjoying good local food, and relaxing among the vineyards.
KogVin is, as the organizers themselves say: “Come to Kog—because it’s cool and beautiful.”

Why stay overnight—and not just come for a day?
Most visitors come to KogVin by car, leave after an hour, and miss the best part. Those who stay overnight know why.
When the crowd disperses, what remains are the quiet vineyards, an evening view of the Jerusalem Hills, and a glass of excellent local wine—without the worry of having to get back behind the wheel. The morning after the festival brings the freshness of a Prlekija morning, a breakfast of local delicacies, and a clear path to nearby wineries, which are often open to walk-in visitors on weekends.
Staying overnight in Jerusalem, Slovenia means:
- Carefree fun at the festival—no restrictions
- An evening stroll through the vineyards after the program ends
- The morning silence in the countryside, which most tourists never experience
- Option for an extended wine tour
The Jeruzalem Wine Route – What to See in the Area
Jeruzalem, Slovenia, is one of the few destinations where a wine route is not just a tourist label, but a living experience. It’s only a few minutes’ drive from our Sibon Hotel to the village of Kog—the perfect starting point for a full-day wine tour of Prlekija.
Along the wine route, you’ll discover, among other things:
- Kog—the heart of the festival, with vineyards stretching in every direction
- Jeruzalem – views of the vineyards with a unique panorama of Styria, Croatia, and—on a clear day—even Austria
- Ormož Castle – a fortified Baroque – Classicist mansion , just a 10-minute drive away
- A cycling trail through the vineyards—the trail connects Prlekija and Prekmurje.
For those interested in wine tourism in Styrian Slovenia, this little corner is a real treasure trove.
Prlekija Cuisine: Food That Complements Every Glass
The wine in Kog is excellent. The cuisine that accompanies it is just as good. Prlekija cuisine is simple yet rich: pumpkin seed oil, fresh cheese, homemade bread, Prlekija tünka, and seasonal dishes you won’t find in the supermarket.
When you visit the KogVin 2026 festival, you’ll have the opportunity to sample dishes from local restaurants and farms that complement the wine-tasting experience. Our hotel also recommends local restaurants in Ormož and the surrounding area, where traditional Prlekija flavors meet a slightly more modern interpretation.
